- I retired from the fire service in 1996 (after 30 years) and started taking classes in drawing, painting, and color theory at the local community college. It has become my passion. I paint using acrylic paint on canvas and from original photographs. My paintings include old, vintage trucks in country settings; landscapes; animals; custom portraits. I recently went on vacation to San Antonio, Texas and found out about blogging from Susan Carlin, a very accomplished artist, who is a knowledgeable and an enthusiastic promoter of the genre, "Work on the website later and start blogging now!", she said. Sooo, here we go! Any comments, constructive criticism, advice on blogging, format, etc. will be greatly appreciated.
