- I retired from the fire service in 1996 (after 30 years) and started taking classes in drawing, painting, and color theory at the local community college. It has become my passion. I paint using acrylic paint on canvas and from original photographs. My paintings include old, vintage trucks in country settings; landscapes; animals; custom portraits. I recently went on vacation to San Antonio, Texas and found out about blogging from Susan Carlin, a very accomplished artist, who is a knowledgeable and an enthusiastic promoter of the genre, "Work on the website later and start blogging now!", she said.
